The Lagos State Commissioner for Transportation, Mr. Oluwaseun Osiyemi, issued a statement on Friday expressing concerns about the state of the pedestrian bridge that connects Oshodi Bus Terminals 2 and 3.

The government has issued an order to immediately close the bridge due to safety concerns, raising concerns about its structural integrity and safety.

“The order also mandated the contractor responsible for the initial construction of the terminal, through the Office of Infrastructure, to place concrete barriers at the entrances leading to the bridge. This is to safeguard the lives of pedestrians who use the infrastructure,” he said.

Osiyemi suggested that people use a different bridge that is 30 meters away while the evaluation is being done.

The commissioner clarified that the closure will allow for a thorough structural integrity assessment of the bridge, determining whether it needs repairs or reconstruction.
