Bayelsa Queens launched their 2024-25 NWFL Premiership Super Six Playoffs campaign with a 1-0 victory over South-South rivals Rivers Angels on Saturday in Ikenne, Ogun State, earning high praise from Bayelsa State’s Commissioner for Sports Development, Hon. Daniel Igali.
Igali, who was present to cheer on the Prosperity Girls, lauded the team’s dedication and resilience in securing the crucial derby win. Speaking to journalists after the match, he urged the team to maintain their momentum in upcoming games, assuring them of the full support and prayers of Governor Douye Diri and the people of Bayelsa.
Bayelsa Queens now shift focus to their next challenge against Nasarawa Amazons, the team that eliminated them from the Federations Cup, on Monday. Meanwhile, Rivers Angels will face another South-South side, Edo Queens, on the same day.
