NAPTIP Arrest Human Trafficker, Rescues 2-Year-Old Girl

The National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) has successfully rescued a two-year-old child trafficking victim in Aba, Abia State.

According to a statement released on the agency’s official Facebook page, the child, renamed Chiamaka Favor, was trafficked from Abuja to Aba in February 2025.

The rescue operation was carried out by NAPTIP’s Abia Command on May 8, 2025. The child was allegedly sold for N100,000, and the suspect involved in the transaction was arrested by officials of the Department of State Services.

This rescue operation highlights NAPTIP’s ongoing efforts to combat human trafficking in Nigeria. The agency’s swift action and collaboration with other security agencies have led to the successful rescue of the child and the arrest of the suspect.

The statement read, “A 2-year-old girl, renamed Chiamaka Favor (alias), who was trafficked from Abuja to Aba in February 2025, has been rescued by NAPTIP Abia Command on May 8, 2025.

“The suspected trafficker, arrested by DSS Abia and handed over to NAPTIP, is alleged to have worked with three trafficking syndicates from Abuja and sold the child to a buyer for ₦100,000. Investigations are ongoing.”

Reuniting the Child with Her Family
NAPTIP is now seeking the public’s assistance to reunite the rescued 2-year-old child, Chiamaka Favor, with her biological parents. The agency is calling on the child’s parents or any relatives to urgently contact them to facilitate a reunion.
