Pastor Timothy Omotosho will be facing charges related to violations to the Immigration Act, and he will appear in court on Monday

The South African police announced on Saturday, May 10, that Timothy Omotosho, a Nigerian televangelist who was recently found not guilty of multiple allegations of rape, has been re-arrested on immigration violations.
In April of 2025, Timothy Omotoso was freed from prison nine years after he had been arrested and placed in jail to face allegations of raping and sexually assaulting a number of young ladies who were members of his church organisation.
Despite the fact that the pastor’s explanations looked to be unlikely, the judge ruled that the state prosecutors had handled the case against him in an improper manner, which resulted in his acquittal.
Following his acquittal, Omotoso was taken into custody by immigration authorities and police in the town of East London on Saturday morning, “just after church,” according to the statement made by the police commissioner general Fannie Masemola to the assembled journalists.
“He will be facing charges related to violations to the Immigration Act, and he will appear in court on Monday.”
With 32 counts against him, including rape, sexual exploitation, and human trafficking, the pastor of the Jesus Dominion International (JDI) church, who is 66 years old and headquartered in South Africa, was taken into custody in 2017.
They were handpicked by Omotoso, who would ask for forgiveness after each interaction with them, according to the testimony of a number of young women, some of whom were still in school at the time.Â
Irma Schoeman, a judge in the Eastern Cape High Court, found the prosecution’s handling of the case to be unsatisfactory in April.
The Judge stated that the state had not proven beyond a reasonable doubt its case against Omotoso and two aides, who were also charged with the same offence.
