The Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) has mandated that all Matchday 37 games commence at 3 PM on Sunday, May 11, to promote fairness in the race for continental spots and relegation battles.
Davidson Owumi, NPFL Chief Operating Officer, stated that the unified kickoff time ensures sporting equity among clubs.
“We initially set the 3 PM start for the trophy ceremony in Ikenne due to safety concerns,” Owumi explained. “After evaluating the stakes for all fixtures, we decided a simultaneous start is essential for competitive integrity.”
Key matches include champions Remo Stars welcoming top-three hopefuls Ikorodu City, while Abia Warriors, also chasing a top-three finish, host El-Kanemi Warriors in Umuahia.
