CONYL Honors CDS for Insecurity Crackdown

The Coalition of Nigerian Youth Leaders (CONYL) has presented an Award of Excellence to General Christopher Gwabin Musa, the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), in recognition of his exceptional leadership in the fight against terrorism and banditry in Nigeria.

The award ceremony was held on Tuesday, May 6, 2025, at the Defence Headquarters in Abuja. Although General Musa was unable to attend due to official engagements, Rear Admiral Olu Bankole, Chief of Defence Civil-Military Relations, received the award on his behalf.

Comrade Goodluck Ibem, CONYL President General, praised General Musa’s dedication and strategic leadership, highlighting the significant gains made by the military under his guidance.

Ibem stated that the award reflects the appreciation of Nigerian youths for the sacrifices of the Armed Forces and General Musa’s visionary leadership in addressing insecurity.

Ibem said, “This award is a reflection of the deep appreciation Nigerian youths have for the sacrifices of our Armed Forces, and the visionary leadership of General Musa in confronting insecurity head-on.”

Rear Admiral Bankole thanked CONYL for the recognition, emphasizing that it would motivate the Armed Forces to continue their efforts in defending the nation.

He reiterated the military’s commitment to working closely with communities and stakeholders to ensure lasting peace and security.

He said the military remains committed to defending the nation’s sovereignty and the CDS is focused on deepening collaboration with security agencies and stakeholders.

The event brought together youth leaders, civil society actors, and members of the media, who commended the Armed Forces for their role in safeguarding the country. The event showcased the appreciation of Nigerian youths for the military’s efforts in combating insecurity and promoting national peace and security.
