Nyesom Wike, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), has announced that more than N300 billion has been invested in a number of projects, praising President Bola Tinubu’s dedication to infrastructure development.
During the commissioning of a 19-kilometer stretch of the Paikon—Kore—Ibwa road in Abuja yesterday, Wike announced that both finished and continuing projects demonstrate the administration’s emphasis on the metropolis and its outlying towns.
In addition to claiming that Gwagwalada benefits from President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, the minister revealed that N22 billion has been allocated for the Aguma Palace Road and other vital local infrastructure, with commissioning scheduled for May 2025.
“Mr President is focused on developing Abuja city and the satellite towns. This road alone (19 kilometres road in Paikon-kore- Ibwa) received N8.5 billion, demonstrating his commitment to equitable development,” Wike stated.
Wike also revealed that N16.5 billion had been spent renovating five secondary schools in Gwagwalada, including the esteemed School for the Gifted and Government Secondary School Giri.
He emphasized the administration’s determination to improve security, pointing out the creation of new local police divisions.
Additionally, the minister instructed the Satellite Town Development Department (STDD) to make building a bridge in Gwagwalada a top priority and guarantee that it is included in the statutory budget for 2025.
“This bridge is vital for the community, and I assure you it will be captured in the next budget,” Wike said.
The minister also thanked the Senate and House Committees on Appropriation for their steadfast support and praised the National Assembly’s contribution to the FCT’s advancement.
“I want to thank the National Assembly for their cooperation, which has enabled us to achieve so much within a short time,” Wike stated.
Wike outlined further noteworthy initiatives, such as the creation of new police divisions and improved security throughout the FCT.
He emphasized that the investments will improve livelihoods and the quality of life, and he asked the populace to support the administration’s efforts.
The minister urged local leaders to collaborate with the administration and restated President Tinubu’s aim of an FCT where development permeates every area.
“Together, we are building a capital that serves everyone, ensuring that no community is left behind,” Wike concluded.
FCT Minister of State Dr. Mariya Mahmoud earlier praised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and FCT Minister Barr. Nyesom Wike for giving priority to infrastructure projects that promote economic growth and connectivity.
Mahmoud described the route as “a symbol of progress,” emphasizing its importance in improving local trade and mobility.
