The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission’s (EFCC) Enugu Zonal Directorate said Wednesday that it has arrested 37 suspected online scammers in Awka, Anambra State.
On its X (formerly Twitter) account, the anti-graft agency revealed that the arrest came after reliable information connected the accused to fraudulent online activity.
It said that six exotic cars, laptops, and cell phones were among the things found on the all-male suspects who were apprehended during a sting operation at Commissioners’ Quarters, Dr. J. O. Ukwutinife Close, Ifite, Awka, the capital of Anambra State.
According to the statement, “They will be charged in court as soon as investigations are concluded.”
