More than three hundred individuals who were members of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) in Kawo Ward, which is located in the Kaduna North Local Government Area, have shifted their allegiance to the All Progressives Congress (APC) in preparation for the general elections that will take place in 2027.
While Dr. Jamilu Haruna, a Permanent Member of the Kaduna State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), was in charge of receiving the new members, he referred to the mass defection as a clear validation of Governor Uba Sani’s performance.
The reception ceremony was hosted by Haruna, who stated that Governor Sani has produced effective governance during his two years in office. This includes the development of infrastructure, agricultural reform, and rural transformation, among other things.
Haruna said, “This defection is not surprising. Even members of the opposition acknowledge Governor Uba Sani’s giant strides in security, education, food security, and citizens’ welfare.
“These achievements have set him apart from his peers and strengthened his relationship with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. This puts Kaduna in a strategic position to benefit further from the federal government.”
He gave the defectors his word that they would be fully integrated into the APC and praised Alhaji Sani Liman Kila, the Chief of Staff to the Governor, for his assistance in organizing the occasion while also expressing his gratitude to him.
The APC Chairman of Kaduna North Local Government, Alhaji Suleiman Wada Usman, also spoke at the event and extended his greetings to the decampees on behalf of Governor Uba Sani.
All of these remarks were made. He expressed his admiration for their willingness to accept the truth and their decision to join the party that is genuinely dedicated to the growth of Kaduna State.
Professor Usman Muhammad, the leader of the decampees and a former PDP senatorial aspirant for Kaduna Central, stated that he led 225 members from the PDP because they support Governor Sani’s inclusive style of governance.
Despite his qualifications and devotion, he criticized the PDP for disregarding experienced members such as himself.
