For the death of Oluwabamise Ayanwola, Andrew Ominikoron will be hanged by the neck until he’s dead – Judge Declared
Andrew Ominikoron, a driver for the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT), was found guilty of raping and killing Bamise Ayanwola, a fashion designer who was 22 years old.
The Lagos State Bus Rapid Transit driver was accused of raping and murdering Oluwabamise Ayanwola, in 2022.
Ominikoron faced four counts bordering on conspiracy, rape, and murder preferred against him by the Lagos State government.
He was arraigned in March 2022 before the court over the rape and murder of his passenger on February 26, 2022, at the Lekki-Ajah Expressway.
The conviction and punishment were handed down by Justice Serifat Sonaike of the Lagos High Court, who was sitting at the Tafawa Balewa Square.
The presiding judge found that the prosecution, which was the Lagos State Government, had effectively proven beyond a reasonable doubt that the defendant was responsible for the offense.
This decision was made in a judgment that was handed down today, May 2.
The judge declared, “For the death of Oluwabamise Ayanwola, you will be hanged by the neck until you are dead. May God have mercy upon you.”
