President Bola Tinubu returned to the State House in Abuja on Monday, following his participation in the 2025 Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week in the United Arab Emirates.
He was briefed by Zach Adedeji, the Chairman of the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS), and had separate meetings with Hon. James Faleke, a member of the House of Representatives, and Usman Ododo, the Governor of Kogi State.
During the summit, Tinubu spoke to world leaders, highlighting Nigeria’s commitment to addressing climate change and other urgent environmental issues.
He commended the UAE’s leaders for organising a great event and reiterated Nigeria’s willingness to work with other countries to create a more resilient and sustainable global community.
During his remarks on the second day of the summit, the president underlined the value of international collaboration, information exchange, and teamwork in tackling interrelated issues.
According to him, Nigeria is actively collaborating with local people to fight pollution, flooding, coastline erosion, deforestation, and desertification.
In order to address environmental challenges, the President also urged international cooperation in the mobilisation of resources and the application of cutting-edge technologies.
In his bilateral talks with Paul Kagame of Rwanda, Tinubu emphasised the importance of African countries giving intra-African trade and economic cooperation top priority.
He emphasised the continent’s abundant resources, highly qualified labour force, and room for expansion while urging closer collaborations to maximise Africa’s development prospects.
In order to discuss potential paths for deeper relations between their countries, the Nigerian leader also met with Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, the president of Kazakhstan.
Nafarm Foods and D-Olivette Global Enterprise, two Nigerian SMEs, were honoured by President Tinubu at the Zayed Sustainability Prize Awards Ceremony for their creative achievements.
As a source of pride for the country, he praised their accomplishments.
Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the president of the United Arab Emirates, thanked President Tinubu for attending the conference and reaffirmed his commitment to enhancing economic relations between the two nations.
Additionally, Sheikh Mohamed agreed to Tinubu’s invitation to travel to Nigeria later this year.
