V.P Shettima Heads to Davos for World Economic Forum

Vice President Kashim Shettima departed Abuja on Sunday to represent Nigeria at the 2025 annual meeting of the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos, Switzerland.

According to his spokesman, Stanley Nkwocha, Shettima is set to join a gathering of global leaders, prominent business executives, and development partners to discuss the current state of the world economy and explore strategies for improvement.

During his time in Davos, the Vice President will engage in bilateral meetings with other leaders and participate in various workshops and forums scheduled for the event.

A significant focus will be on a workshop titled “Roadmap to Co-create Investment Opportunities for Africa’s Frontier Markets,” organized by the African Development Bank in collaboration with WEF, aimed at increasing capital flow into Africa’s emerging markets.Key discussions will include the announcement of the Humanitarian and Resilience Investing (HRI) Roadmap for Africa, in partnership with the African Development Bank, which seeks to foster collaboration between public and private sector leaders to mobilize investments in Africa.

Additionally, Shettima will attend a dinner with heads of state, government officials, and international organizations, as well as the Annual Meeting 2025 Crystal Awardees, the International Business Council, and strategic partners at Kurpark Village, Eiger.

Further, the Vice President will co-chair a forum on “Turning Digital Trade into a Catalyst for Growth in Africa” at the Pischa Congress Centre.

This session will facilitate discussions on the role of digital trade in economic advancement and the private sector’s contribution to implementing the AfCFTA Digital Trade Protocol, adopted by African Union leaders in January 2024.Shettima is also slated to participate as a panelist in a Stakeholder Dialogue on “Global Risks 2025,” which will address the increasingly volatile global landscape characterized by geopolitical, technological, and environmental challenges, taking place at the Aspen 2 Congress Centre in Davos.

Accompanied by key government officials, including the Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, Dr. Jumoke Oduwole, and the Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Investment Promotion Commission (NIPC), Aisha Rimi, Shettima will return to Abuja upon completing his engagements in Davos.
