The Katsina State Police Command successfully rescued 109 rustled animals and murdered no less than seven accused bandits after thwarting an attack on Ruwan Doruwa village in the state’s Dutsinma local government area.

The Divisional Police Officer (DPO), along with the Department of State Services (DSS), Katsina State Community Watch Corps (KTSCWC), local vigilantes, and the military, mobilized to the area in a timely manner.

The operation was carried out on Saturday, January 18, 2025, at approximately 9:00 a.m., according to a press release issued by DSP Abubakar Sadiq Aliyu, the spokesperson for the Command.

A distress call about a bandit attack was received by the Dutsinma Divisional Police Headquarters, according to the PPRO. The bandits had attacked the village, terrorizing the locals with their AK-47 rifles and other lethal weaponry.

Seven suspects were neutralized during a heated gunfight between the security force and the assailants. The surviving bandits left the rustling beasts behind and ran away, wounded.

61 cows, 44 sheep, two donkeys, one goat, and one dog were all recovered during the operation.

In his statement, CP Aliyu Abubakar Musa, the Commissioner of Police for Katsina State Command, commended the officers for their courage, professionalism, and dedication and reassured the public of the command’s steadfast determination to protect people and property throughout the state.

He also urged citizens to continue supporting security efforts by contributing timely and useful intelligence, emphasizing that “your cooperation is vital in the ongoing fight against crime and criminality.”
