Malaria Ends with Us: Reinvest, Reimagine, Reignite,
The National Orientation Agency (NOA) has reaffirmed its plea for Nigerians to take deliberate and consistent fight against malaria.
Under the theme “Malaria Ends with Us: Reinvest, Reimagine, Reignite,” the call took place Friday at the 2025 World Malaria Day. The subject is a call to action for fresh national dedication to eradicate a disease still ranking as Nigeria’s major cause of death.
In Nigeria, malaria is still a major health concern, especially for pregnant women and children under five years old, as well as in rural and underprivileged regions.
NOA emphasized the need of everyone—from individuals to communities to institutions—joining forces to combat malaria.
NOA also advised Nigerians to sleep under insecticide-treated mosquito nets, eliminate stagnant water, clean the environment, and wear protective gear. It also advised against self-medication and advised visiting hospitals immediately if fever, chills, or exhaustion occurred.
The NOA is supporting correct information exchange, local health initiatives, and community participation in Nigeria’s malaria response to increase public engagement.
The agency says eradicating malaria is a shared responsibility that starts with little, consistent efforts from everyone. Using its Community Orientation and Mobilisation Officers (COMOs), the agency has mobilised residents with traditional institutions, youth groups, and faith-based groups to fulfill its grassroots mandate.
National partnerships between the Federal Ministry of Health and the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) improve community-based health education and malaria control.
