According to Works Minister Engr. David Umahi, the Abuja-Kaduna-Kano dual highway will be finished in 14 months and have a 50–100 year lifespan.

According to him, the enormous project was essential to enhancing Nigeria’s infrastructure and guaranteeing improved connection throughout the country’s north.

During the inspection on Wednesday, Mohammed Ahmed, the ministry of works’ director of information, reiterated that the federal government, led by President Bola Tinubu, had set ambitious deadlines for finishing the Abuja-Kaduna-Zaria-Kano dual carriageway rehabilitation.

The minister emphasized that the route connecting Abuja and Kano had to be finished in 14 months.

He restated that the original contractor, Messrs. Julius Berger (Nig.) Ltd., had had the contract canceled and taken away from them because of irreconcilable disputes, such as their attempt to extend the project timeframe by an additional three years, which he deemed unacceptable.

He also reaffirmed that the road would be finished on schedule and that it would satisfy the country’s pressing infrastructure demands, emphasizing that the project had been divided into three manageable parts to speed it up and ensure quality and timely completion.

He claims that because of the road’s significance, palliative work is currently being done on the failing sections from Abuja to Kaduna while the contract is being re-awarded.
According to him, the goal is to have no potholes on the alignment.

He reassured Nigerians that since everyone was working toward the same aim of finishing the road on time, any delays or obstacles would not be accepted.

According to the minister, the road will be constructed to last for 50–100 years, leaving a lasting legacy.
In order to ensure that no failed alignment impedes the link, the minister stated that the project will comprise an extension of 10 kilometers at the Kano end and an additional 5 kilometers at the Abuja end.

Engineer Umahi briefed the public on the government’s resolute determination to finish the road in record time. He was joined by the minister of information and national orientation, Alhaji Mohammad Idris, the chairmen of the Senate and House of Representatives Committees on Works, Senator Barinada Mpigi and Hon. Akin Alabi, respectively, as well as other members and the permanent secretary, Engr. Olufunso Adebiyi.

All parties involved are cooperating to reach this milestone, and the National Assembly members have fully supported the minister’s mandate to finish the road within 14 months. He reaffirmed that the project’s political component should be put aside in order to concentrate entirely on building a top-notch highway for Nigerians’ benefit.

He went on to say that President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda was committed to seeing the project through to completion as soon as possible. “He has directed that the suffering of road users on this alignment be brought to an end and we are committed to doing that,” the minister stated.

Alhaji Mohammad Idris, Minister of Information and National Orientation, said the inspection would be carried out on a regular basis to keep an eye on developments and inform the public.

He emphasized that the project team was made up of highly qualified experts and that he was sure the road connecting Abuja, Kaduna, Zairea, and Kano will be a huge success.

According to Alhaji Idris, the president has not wavered in his resolve to upgrade the country’s infrastructure and see that important projects like the Abuja-Kaduna-Zaria-Kano Highway Rehabilitation are completed on schedule. These projects will greatly improve Nigeria’s trade, transportation, and economic activity.

For the benefit of all Nigerians, the chairs of the Works Committees in the two houses of the National Assembly (NASS) promised to support the project by providing sufficient funding and performing monitoring duties.
