The previous contract has been terminated and re-awarded to Triacter Construction Company
Section 1 of the Kano–Maiduguri Road project has been terminated by the Federal Government, and the contract for its completion has been re-awarded to Triacter Construction Company with a completion period of three years.
Suleiman Kawu Sumaila, the senator who represents Kano South in the Senate, released this information on Tuesday.
He did so following a visit to the office of Engr. Dave Umahi, the Minister of Works, in Abuja. An ecstatic Senator Sumaila, who took to his Facebook page to announce the new development, stated that the section of the Kano-Maiduguri Road that had been a death trap for a long time, causing frequent accidents, the loss of lives, and continuous traffic congestion, will now receive the urgent attention that it required.
He wrote, “I am delighted to inform my constituents in Kano, the good people of Nigeria, and the general public that following my motion on the Kano–Maiduguri Road (Section One) presented on the 7th of May, 2024, the Federal Executive Council (FEC), under the leadership of Mr. President, has taken decisive action. The previous contract has been terminated and re-awarded to Triacter Construction Company.
“The new contract, valued at One Hundred and Twenty-Four Billion, Four Hundred Million Naira (₦124,400,000,000), comes with a completion timeline of three years.
“This section of the road, which has long been a death trap—causing frequent accidents, loss of lives, and persistent traffic congestion— will now receive the urgent attention it deserves.
“This development marks a major step forward in our collective commitment to improving infrastructure, enhancing road safety, and delivering meaningful change to our people.
“I wish to sincerely extend my gratitude to the Senate of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, my distinguished colleagues, the Honourable Minister of Works, and Mr. President for their commendable response to this critical matter.”
