Omoyele Sowore, a human rights activist and a former presidential candidate, has made a solemn commitment that he will never become a member of the planned coalition that was formed between Peter Obi of the Labour Party and Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party, both of whom have previously run for the presidency.

Additionally, Sowore declared that he will not become a member of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) prior to the presidential election in 2027.

Sowore made it quite apparent that he would only associate himself with what he referred to as “the coalition of the oppressed” while he was appearing on the Politics Today program that is broadcast on Arise TV.

Sowore said, “I’m not joining any coalition. The coalition they joined in 2013 and 2015 is what brought about the APC, so joining another coalition in 2025 is doing the same thing all over again without thinking of achieving the same set of results.

“The coalition that needs to be built is that of the oppressed. Joining another coalition made up of the same people who created the coalition that ruined Nigeria is an injustice and an injury to the people of Nigeria.

“So you can never see me in their coalition and I will never be part of it. I’m not joining the SDP. I’m not part of those playing chess with the destiny of Nigerians.”

Atiku, Obi, and Nasir El-Rufai, who formerly served as governor of Kaduna State, have come together to establish a coalition with the objective of ousting President Bola Tinubu from office in the year 2027.

On the occasion of a press conference that was organized by the Concerned Leaders and Political Stakeholders in Nigeria, Atiku disclosed this information.

It was his warning to the administration that they should not put their own personal political ambitions ahead of the stability of the nation.

He cautioned that any attempt to maintain power at any cost may lead to the complete disintegration of the nation. He highlighted that the problem was not confined to Rivers State alone, but rather it was about the possibility of democracy in Nigeria in the future.
