A machete cut was inflicted on man’s neck in Ondo, which ultimately resulted in his death

18-year-old boy named Suleiman Ahmed Dantata, who is suspected of being a member of a cult, was taken into custody by operational members of the Ondo State Police command for the murder of a man named Raimi Ibrahim.

On the evening of March 28, 2025, at approximately 8:30 o’clock, the incident took place in the Elegbeka community, which is located in the Owo, Ose Local Government region of Ondo State.

Dantata and Ohi Usman, who was 23 years old at the time, were accused of being the individuals responsible for the assassination of the deceased.

It was discovered that Usman assisted the suspect in tracing the movements of the deceased on the day when the tragedy occurred.

In accordance with the brother of the deceased, Dantata had arrived at the shop owned by the deceased mother immediately following the conclusion of the month of Ramadan.

The moment he caught sight of his intended victim, he proceeded to inflict severe machete slashes on his neck before fleeing.

When the suspect’s effort to kill the deceased’s father was unsuccessful, the suspect went after the deceased and hacked him to death, according to the source.

The source also indicated that the suspects had attempted to kill the deceased’s daughter.

Youth in the town, who were sympathetic to Ibrahim’s family, went on a rampage after hearing the news of his death.

They chased after him, and he was eventually taken into custody despite their efforts.

In the aftermath of his arrest, the suspects were brought before a Chief Magistrates’ Court in Oke Eda, Akure, where they were charged with suspected murder and conspiracy by the police.

A machete cut was inflicted on Ibrahim’s neck, which ultimately resulted in his death, according to the prosecutor, Josephine Awana, who related this information to the court.

“That you, Dantata Suleiman Ahmed ‘m’ and on 28/3/2025, 8.30pm, at Elegbeka community via Ipele, Owo, in Magisterial District, conspired to commit felony to wit, murder and thereby committed an offense contrary to and punishable under Section 324 of the Criminal Code, Law of Ondo State of Nigeria, 2006.

“That you, Dantata Suleiman Ahmed in the aforementioned Magisterial District did unlawfully macheted the neck of Raimi Ibrahim ‘m’ with a cutlass which resulted in his death and thereby committed an offence contrary to Section 316 and punishable under section 516 Vol.1, Laws of Ondo State of Nigeria, 2006.”

Olateju Odenusi-Fadeyi, the Chief Magistrate, did not accept the defendants’ pleas and instead ordered that they be held in the Olokuta Correctional facility. The case was then postponed until May 14 for ruling.
