In a significant development for education in Kaduna State, Hon. Dan Amos, the lawmaker representing Jema’a/Sanga Federal Constituency, has secured N1 billion in the 2025 national budget for the construction of a theatre classroom and rehabilitation of hostels at the Kaduna State College of Nursing, Kafanchan. This move is a testament to Amos’s commitment to improving the learning environment and providing better facilities for students in his constituency.
The project is part of the 2025 budget. It aims to address the deplorable state of the college’s hostel facilities. The project also seeks to provide a better learning environment for students. The N1 billion allocation will be used to construct a modern theatre classroom. It will also rehabilitate the existing hostels. These hostels have been described as “unfit for human habitation.”
Hon. Dan Amos, Chairman of the House Committee on House Services, made a significant announcement on Sunday. The announcement took place at the birthday celebration of Kaduna South Senator Sunday Katung. The event, held at Gweimen Centre in Jaba local Government Area was attended by orphans and other prominent figures
He described the state of the college’s hostel facilities as “deplorable and unfit for human habitation.” He added that witnessing the conditions firsthand prompted him to act.
“It is shameful that in this day and age, students are forced to stay in such terrible conditions. That sight alone challenged me to act swiftly.
“That is why I worked hard to ensure that N1 billion was included in the 2025 budget for the improvement of the school’s infrastructure,” he said.
The Kaduna State College of Nursing, Kafanchan, has been facing significant challenges in terms of infrastructure and facilities. The hostel facilities have been in a state of disrepair for years. Students have been forced to live in overcrowded conditions. They also face unsanitary conditions. The lack of modern facilities has affected the quality of education. Students struggle to access basic amenities. Functional utilities and proper sanitation are lacking.
The funding will significantly improve the learning environment in these institutions, addressing issues such as:
– Inadequate Hostels: Many students face congestion or live off-campus due to insufficient hostel spaces.
– Deplorable Conditions: Existing hostels often lack functional utilities and proper sanitation.
– Enhanced Learning: The rehabilitation of theatre classrooms will provide students with better facilities for practical learning experiences.
Amos is working with the Kaduna State Government to engage in a collaborative effort to uplift the overall standards of the college and other educational institutions in Southern Kaduna. He also urged the people to shift focus from political distractions and support elected officials to deliver on their mandates.
