As vigilantes moved to engage, the attackers opened fire, killing at least 13 of them instantly

An savage attack that is believed to have been carried out by Lakurawa terrorists has resulted in the deaths of at least thirteen vigilantes in the village of Morai, which is situated in the Augie Local Government Area of Kebbi State.

After getting information of a potential attack, the vigilantes hid themselves in the adjacent bushes, according to a local source who identified himself as Alhaji Augie. Later on, he stated that the perpetrators of the incident arrived and made an effort to steal a herd of cattle.

The vigilantes retaliated by setting up an ambush in order to retrieve the livestock that had been taken and to drive away the perpetrators.

In reference to the incident that took place on Sunday, he stated, “Unfortunately, they didn’t realize the terrorists had already encircled them.

“As the vigilantes moved to engage, the attackers opened fire, killing at least 13 of them instantly. The village where it happened is only about three kilometers from ours.”

As the search for the remaining victims continues, six bodies have been retrieved and laid to rest in accordance with Islamic traditions. The search for the remaining victims is still ongoing.

Nafiu Abubakar, who serves as the spokesperson for the Kebbi State Police Command, has not yet issued an official statement regarding the incident.
