The 2025 Nigeria Beach Soccer League (NBSL) commenced its fifth season with an exciting Round One in Birnin Kebbi, Kebbi State, on March 31st. Dr. Mohammed Sanusi (MON), General Secretary of the Nigeria Football Federation, commended the unwavering support of beach soccer stakeholders across the nation as eight teams embarked on their quest for the championship title.
The opening round showcased defending champions Kebbi Fishers BSC, alongside Anambra Beach Soccer Warriors, Kebbi United BSC, Kada BSC (Kaduna State), Nmanko Patigi BSC (Kwara State), Jigawa Golden Star BSC, Ibom BSC (Akwa Ibom State), and Niger BSC. Sanusi, present at the event, expressed his gratitude to the League Management, headed by Mahmud Hadejia, for their exceptional efforts, which have been bolstered by the NFF Beach Soccer and Futsal Committee, as well as the backing of the Kebbi State Government and Football Association.
“The event has been truly spectacular, and we thank God for that,” Sanusi remarked. “Alhaji Mahmud Hadejia, President of the African Beach Soccer Union (ABSU) and Coordinator of the NBSL, has excelled in his role. We take great pride in his achievements, both in Kebbi State and throughout Nigeria.” He also extended appreciation to the Governor of Kebbi State and Alhaji Abubakar Chika Ladan, Chairman of the Kebbi State Football Association, for their continuous support, urging them to maintain their commitment.

The eight competing teams have been split into two groups. Group A features three-time champions Kebbi Fishers BSC, Anambra Beach Soccer Warriors, Nmanko Patigi BSC, and Ibom BSC, while Group B includes 2022 winners Kada BSC, Kebbi United BSC, Niger BSC, and Jigawa Golden Star BSC.
The season will unfold across three rounds in Kebbi, Kaduna, and Anambra States, culminating in the Super Six Finals in Akwa Ibom in December, where the top three teams from each group will vie for the coveted title.
