In response to charges that her recent sallah visit to her hometown was a political gathering, Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, who represents the Kogi Central Senatorial District, has refuted the claim.
She made it clear that her journey on Monday, April 1, 2025, was only for the purpose of celebrating Sallah with her supporters and that it did not have any political overtones.
“This was a celebration of unity and shared love, not politics, the people who welcomed me did so of their own free will, and I deeply appreciate their sacrifice.” Her remark comes in reaction to allegations that she paid participants to be present at the event with her money.
A heroic welcome was prepared for her by thousands of supporters who trudged long distances through bush paths, despite a government restriction on vehicular movement.
The senator’s overwhelmingly positive reception upon her helicopter arrival is a reflection of the profound devotion her constituents hold for her.
Residents of the five local government areas that comprise Kogi Central made up the audience, according to Natasha, who highlighted that this group of people represented less than three percent of her total followers.
Meanwhile, The Kogi State Government criticised Natasha for not respecting the laws and rule of the state.
In a statement that was released on Tuesday by the state Commissioner for Information and Communication, Mr. Kingsley Fanwo, the state government of Kogi State stated its viewpoint that Natasha deliberately violated the State Government’s ban on political gatherings, instead of respecting the law, she chose to incite chaos.
“Let it be categorically stated that Governor Ododo has no interest in the political theatrics of the suspended Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan. Her baseless allegations are nothing but a feeble attempt to stir unnecessary controversy and cover up her blatant disregard for the law. She has once again proven that she has no respect for rules and the laws.”
