Uromi, the headquarters of Esan North East Local Government Area in Edo State, has been taken over by police, military, and plainclothes security agents occupying crucial crossroads.

IREPORT247NEW reported that the victims, who were traveling in a truck, insisted that they were hunters, but they were discovered to be in possession of nineteen (19) firearms that had been manufactured locally.

As a result of the vigilantes’ dissatisfaction with their answer, they accused them of being criminals and subjected them to mob justice, which ultimately led to tragic outcomes.

In the aftermath of the incident, the Edo State Police Command moved rapidly to deploy officers in order to restore order in the community that was impacted. During the ongoing manhunt for additional individuals who may have been engaged in the incident, fourteen (14) suspects have been apprehended.

Residents of the region are now concerned about the possibility of retaliation, which led to the deployment of security agents on the grounds that they were able to prevent retaliation.

Military vehicles were also monitoring areas near to the highway and suspected hotspots in the town in order to monitor the movement of people and enforce order. This was accomplished in addition to the deployment of police officers.

There has been an increase in the level of suspicion directed toward those with unfamiliar faces as a result of the rumored presence of plainclothes security agents in the town.

When contacted, Moses Yamu, the Public Relations Officer of the Edo State Police, stated that the problem had been taken over by Force Headquarters.

However, he also mentioned that the command has deployed more troops to guarantee that there is no breakdown in law and order.

“The Force Headquarters has taken over the investigation, so it is no longer in our hands. I cannot, therefore, say how far the investigation has gone. But our men are still on ground to ensure that there is no breakdown of law and order.”
