New photographs have surfaced that shed light on the deplorable conditions that existed within a residence where a man was held captive by his Stepmom for more than 20 years.

In February, an unidentified man escaped from the residence by making a fire using printer paper and hand sanitizer. He informed the police that he had been trapped in a small room that was closed with plywood and a lock.

A number of allegations, including first-degree assault and second-degree kidnapping, have been brought against Kimberly Sullivan, who is 56 years old. She is accused of keeping her stepson detained in deplorable conditions.

Following his February fire escape, the 32-year-old guy was discovered critically underweight at just 68 pounds.

Since he was eleven years old, he claimed to the police, he had been a captive. Photographs reveal a damaged and disorganized interior, with door locks visible from the exterior.

In addition to being confined to a tiny room on a regular basis, the man was given very little food and drink. Waterbury Police Department called the situation a “house of horrors.”

After posting a $300,000 bond, Sullivan entered a not guilty plea. Legal representation for her client insists the man received adequate care.

Since the Department of Children and Families had dealt with the family in the past, the investigation into the issue has been prompted by the controversy it has generated. In court again on April 22nd, Sullivan must appear.
