Nigeria Gets Nod to Host Commonwealth Fencing Championships

The Commonwealth Fencing Federation has ratified Nigeria’s hosting rights for the 2025 Commonwealth Fencing Championships. The event, which is expected to attract top fencers from across the Commonwealth, will take place in Lagos, Nigeria.

According to the Nigeria Fencing Federation, the hosting rights were ratified during the Commonwealth Fencing Federation’s annual general meeting in London.

“We are delighted to confirm that Nigeria has been ratified as the host country for the 2025 Commonwealth Fencing Championships,” said the President of the Nigeria Fencing Federation, Adeyinka Samuel.

Samuel expressed his gratitude to the Commonwealth Fencing Federation for the opportunity to host the championships. “We are honored to have been given this opportunity and we are committed to hosting a successful and memorable event.

We will work tirelessly to ensure that all logistics and arrangements are in place to provide a world-class experience for all participants,” he said.

The Commonwealth Fencing Championships are held every two years and feature competitions in foil, epee, and sabre events. The event is expected to attract top fencers from countries such as England, Canada, Australia, and South Africa.

The Nigeria Fencing Federation has promised to put in place all necessary arrangements to ensure the success of the championships. “We will work closely with the Commonwealth Fencing Federation and other stakeholders to ensure that all aspects of the event are well-planned and executed,” said Samuel.

The hosting of the Commonwealth Fencing Championships is expected to boost the development of fencing in Nigeria and provide a platform for Nigerian fencers to compete against top athletes from around the world.
