Former Nigerian international, Israel Olawale, has expressed his disappointment with the current Super Eagles team, stating that they lack passion and are similar to Chelsea Football Club.
According to Olawale, the team’s performance has been uninspiring, and they seem to be lacking the drive and determination that once characterized Nigerian football.
“The current Eagles are similar to Chelsea; they lack passion,” Olawale said in a recent interview. “They don’t have the zeal to play for the country. They are just playing for the sake of playing.”
Olawale, who played for the Super Eagles in the 1990s, believes that the team’s lack of passion is reflected in their performances on the pitch.
“When you watch them play, you’ll see that they’re not playing with passion. They’re just going through the motions,” he said.
The former international also attributed the team’s poor performance to the lack of competition in the Nigerian Professional Football League.
“Our league is not competitive enough. The players are not playing under pressure, and that’s affecting their performance when they play for the national team,” Olawale said.
Olawale’s comments come on the heels of the Super Eagles’ underwhelming performance in their recent African Cup of Nations qualifying matches.
The team’s lackluster display has raised concerns among Nigerian football fans, who are calling for an overhaul of the team’s coaching staff and playing personnel.
As the Super Eagles continue to struggle, Olawale’s comments serve as a reminder of the need for passion and determination in Nigerian football.
