Bayern Munich are ready to enter the race to sign Kobbie Mainoo from Manchester United amid an ongoing contract stand-off.
Bayern is interested in signing Mainoo from United this month. The midfielder’s future at Old Trafford is uncertain, as he hopes to sign a new contract worth £200,000 per week, a significant increase over his existing £20,000 per week deal. Mainoo would be pure PSR profit for the Red Devils because he is an academy product, and Chelsea is presently said to be leading the race.
Bayern are thought to be long-time supporters of Mainoo, who has 10 England caps and 53 senior matches for the club. His contract extends through 2027. United are now hesitant to meet the midfielder’s demands, putting his future in doubt. Ruben Amorim, United’s manager, has already wanted more from him.
Bayern are top of the Bundesliga at present while United are 13th in the Premier League. A move to Munich would see him link up with both Harry Kane and Eric Dier.
United play Southampton on Thursday, while Bayern are next in action on Wednesday against Hoffenheim.
