The Super Eagles have resumed training behind closed doors in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, ahead of their crucial 2026 World Cup qualifying match against Zimbabwe. Coach Eric Chelle has demanded maximum concentration from the players, stressing the importance of the next game.

The team flew into Uyo from Kigali, Rwanda, where they defeated the Amavubi 2-0 on Friday. The win revived Nigeria’s hopes of reaching the 2026 World Cup in the USA, Canada, and Mexico.

According to the team’s media officer, Promise Efoghe, the training session on Sunday was closed to the media and the public. However, the team will have an open training session on Monday, which will be followed by a press conference.

Coach Chelle emphasized the need for the team to focus on their next game, rather than dwelling on their previous win. “We need to be ready for the next game. I prefer to focus on my team rather than discussing weaknesses. My priority is analyzing and improving our own play,” he said.

The Super Eagles will have two full training sessions before their match against Zimbabwe on Tuesday. The Zimbabweans also had their first training session on Sunday at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium.
