The good things happening in Lagos are now also happening here in Edo State and we have made progress under my watch as governor.

The Benin-Asaba Highway, which is 125 kilometers long and is anticipated to be finished within thirty months, was presented to the public on Sunday by President Bola Tinubu.

Senator Monday Okpebholo, who is the Governor of Edo State, was the one who carried out the unveiling on behalf of President Tinubu.

Edo State is now becoming comparable to Lagos in terms of the development of its infrastructure, according to Okpebholo, who stated that the road is a legacy project.

Okpebholo said, “The President loves Edo State so much so that whenever he sees me, he always asks me about the welfare of the Edo people and also that of the Oba of Benin.

“The good things happening in Lagos are now also happening here in Edo State and we have made progress under my watch as governor.

“We once had a president from this region that never remembered us. Edo is a gateway to the nation and when the roads are bad, the economy of the state will be bad as well.

Tinubu was thanked for the affection that was shown to Edo State while he was serving as governor.

Dave Umahi, the Minister of Works, praised Okpebholo for his innovative leadership, stating that in less than 150 days in office, Okpebholo had transformed the state into a construction site.

In addition, he praised Okpebholo, whom he stated had shown love and dedication for his people by undertaking initiatives that were centered on the people, such as the flyover that was constructed at Ramat Park in Benin City, which is the capital of the state.

Sheriff Oborevwori, the governor of Delta State, expressed his gratitude to the president for the help he is providing to the people of Edo and Delta State. He also requested that the president extend the road to the Onitsha Bridge.

His deputy, Monday Onyeme, spoke on behalf of Oborevwori, who stated that the road is an essential piece of infrastructure that links the Eastern and Western parts of Nigeria.
