His Royal Majesty, Oba Peter Oluwole Ipadeola, Akinyooye III, the Olufon of Ifon-Osun, Orolu Kingdom, and President of Irepodun and Orolu Traditional Council, has issued a heartfelt appeal to the people of Ifon-Osun, Ilobu, Erin-Osun, and the entire Osun State to embrace peace and unity in the face of the recent communal clashes.

“‘With a heavy heart but unwavering resolve, I address the people of Ifon-Osun, Ilobu, Erin-Osun, the entire Osun State, and by extension, Nigeria on the unfortunate communal crisis that has disrupted the long-standing peace that we once cherished,'” Oba Akinyooye said in a press release.

The traditional leader called on the Olobu of Ilobu, Oba Ashiru Olatoye Olaniyan, and the Elerin of Erin-Osun, Oba Yusuff Omoloye Oyagbodun, to cease all forms of conflict and join hands to restore peace and unity in their lands. He emphasized the importance of unity and cooperation, stating that “no kingdom thrives in the face of strife, and no people develop in the midst of chaos.”

Oba Akinyooye also appealed to the indigenes of Ifon-Osun, Ilobu, and Erin-Osun who have been affected and displaced by the crisis to return home and rebuild their communities. He urged them to look beyond past grievances and work collectively towards peace and prosperity.

The Olufon commended the Governor of Osun State for his prompt intervention and leadership in addressing the crisis. He also cautioned against politicizing the communal clash, warning that those found fueling the crisis for political gain would face the consequences.

In conclusion, Oba Akinyooye urged every son and daughter of Ifon-Osun, Ilobu, and Erin-Osun to embrace peace, shun violence, and allow normalcy to return to their land. “Let us replace hostility with dialogue, anger with understanding, and division with unity. We are stronger together,” he said.

Oba Peter Oluwole Ipadeola, Akinyooye III, is the 35th Olufon of Ifon-Osun, Orolu Kingdom, and has been a prominent figure in promoting peace and development in the region.¹ ² ³
