A Nigerian Navy officer, Navy Lt. Cynthia Akor, attached to the Defence Headquarters, has been kidnapped alongside two others by gunmen in Abuja. The incident occurred on Friday night at the victims’ residence in the Mpape area of the Federal Capital Territory.

According to a source, the kidnappers reached out to the victims’ families on Saturday, demanding a ransom of N100 million for their release. The source revealed that three individuals were abducted, including Lt. Akor, a Defence Headquarters official.

The Director of Defence Media Operations, Maj. Gen. Markus Kangye, and the Director of Defence Information, Brig. Gen. Tukur Gusau, were unreachable for comments. However, the spokesperson for the Federal Capital Territory Police Command, Josephine Adeh, promised to verify the incident and provide further details.

The abduction has heightened concerns over the worsening security situation in the nation’s capital. Cases of kidnappings and violent crimes continue to escalate, leaving residents on edge. The incident has also raised questions about the effectiveness of security measures in place to protect citizens.
