All those people saying they are going to float a mega party, is there any of them who is not ambitious to be president of Nigeria?

Chief Bode George, a former deputy national chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has accused certain politicians of being self-absorbed for plotting to establish a mega party in the run-up to the 2027 general election.

A coliation to unseat the incumbent All Progressives Congress (APC) in 2027 has been the subject of heated discussion ever after former Kaduna governor Malam Nasir El-Rufai defected to the Social Democratic Party (SDP).

In an effort to fortify his new party and position it as a formidable rival to the APC in the upcoming general election, El-Rufai has sent invitations to prominent opposition figures, such as Labour Party member Peter Obi and PDP candidate Atiku Abubakar.

Also, In a bold move aimed at challenging President Bola Tinubu’s potential re-election bid in 2027, a coalition of opposition leaders was launched and former Vice President Atiku Abubakar is a key player in the coalition.

The coalition, which was unveiled at a press conference in Abuja, brings together prominent figures from various political parties, including the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Labour Party (LP), and the All Progressives Congress (APC).

George isn’t on board with the mega party concept; he thinks the PDP shouldn’t let its structure crumble and join up with other opposition parties just because there’s a lingering problem.

Some of the coalition backers, according to George, want to be president, he claimed on Friday, March 21, 2025, while appearing on Arise Television.

George said, “All those people saying they are going to float a mega party, is there any of them who is not ambitious to be president of Nigeria? Is that the real approach to solving this problem?

“For me, it started like a little mess at our national convention. Some of us advised that our party is not a private enterprise of anybody, but nobody listened. Then Wike started on his own, and he has gone beyond the red line.

“Do you think there is any nation or party that does not have a crisis? All these groups who are running around for their personal ambition, they are making a monumental mistake and they are all dancing on the graves of our founding fathers.”

Regarding the ongoing state of emergency dispute in Rivers State, he urged the residents to refrain from using force and steer clear of anything that could make the already volatile situation even worse.
