Suspected Kidnappers Arrested N3.6m cash

Komolafe admitted to providing kidnappers with assistance by feeding meals to their victims while they were held captive and received compensation as a percentage of the total number of people kidnapped.

The Ondo State Police Command has arrested two individuals suspected of kidnapping. These individuals are Ridwan Salisu, who is 45 years old, and Umar Isyaku, who is 19 years old.

The suspects were arrested with N3.6 million in cash. Following the gathering of intelligence, the two individuals were taken into custody. On the other hand, the suspects asserted that the money was the result of their Point of Sale (PoS) business.

An increase in the number of kidnapping instances has been observed in Ondo State, specifically in the Akure North Local Government Area.

Victims have been compelled to pay substantial ransoms. It was stated that the kidnappers have a vast supply network within the forest, according to a farmer named Olanrewaju Oyeleye, who reportedly paid N25 million to ensure his release.

Wilfred Afolabi, the Commissioner of Police for Ondo State, announced that two motorcycles, known as Lekan Temitope (alias Legelege) and Komolafe Sunday (alias Veego), have been apprehended.

According to Afolabi, these individuals allegedly engaged in the role of informants and gave logistical support to kidnappers.

According to reports, Komolafe admitted to providing kidnappers with assistance by feeding meals to their victims while they were held captive and received compensation as a percentage of the total number of people kidnapped.

In Akunu-Akoko, Yusuf Ahmadu and Umaru Abubakar Sanda, two further suspects, were taken into custody as a result of his confession.

The police claim that Abubakar admitted to being the person who guarded the victims while they were being held in the jungle.

Samuel Friday, a known vandal who has been incarcerated three times for interfering with electrical equipment, has been re-arrested. This follows the fact that he was previously arrested. A transformer was vandalised by the police on Friday as they were in the process of doing so in the Ilu-Abo, Ogbese region of the state.

Also, Samuel Friday, an infamous vandal with three prior convictions for messing with electrical infrastructure, has been re-arrested. On Friday, authorities in the state’s Ilu-Abo, Ogbese area apprehended a suspect who was allegedly vandalising a transformer.

The two suspected receivers, Alhaji Abubakar (alias Abu Shisha) and Alhaji Sheu Sabo, who both reside in Akure, were named by Commissioner Afolabi on Friday and have been involved in vandalism since 2016.

To combat kidnappings and other criminal activities, Ondo State will be receiving technical equipment, as approved by Inspector General of Police Kayode Egbetokun.

Additionally, Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa has promised to allocate funds to bolster law enforcement’s efforts to combat crime.
