Harvard University Offers free Tuition to Students from Households Earning $200K Yearly.

Harvard University is offering free tuition to all students from households earning $200,000 or less each year, the Ivy League school announced this on Monday, March 17.

The free tuition at one of the most prestigious colleges in the world will be available to nearly 86% of American families.

Havard institution in Cambridge, Massachusetts will also provide financial help that will cover the costs of tuition, food, housing, health insurance, and travel for students who come from households with yearly incomes of $100,000 or less. This will make the university’s educational program fully free for these students.

Harvard University President Alan M. Garber said in a statement, “Putting Harvard within financial reach for more individuals widens the array of backgrounds, experiences, and perspectives that all of our students encounter, fostering their intellectual and personal growth.

“By bringing people of outstanding promise together to learn with and from one another, we truly realize the tremendous potential of the University.”

According to Garber, the new plan will broaden Harvard’s commitment to providing all undergraduates with the tools they need to enroll and graduate, and it will also make financial aid available to around 86% of U.S. families.

The average yearly cost of attending Harvard University as an undergraduate is $56,550, as stated on the university’s website.

According to Harvard, the cost of attending the university is $82,866 a year when you include housing, food, health services, and other student services.

“We know the most talented students come from different socioeconomic backgrounds and experiences, from every state and around the globe,” William R. Fitzsimmons, Harvard College’s dean of admissions and financial aid, said in a statement. “Our financial aid is critical to ensuring that these students know Harvard College is a place where they can be part of a vibrant learning community strengthened by their presence and participation.”

Jake Kaufman, Harvard’s director of financial aid said, “Our team works closely with each student to ensure full inclusion in the Harvard experience. The financial aid program is designed so that Harvard students can study, train, research, create, and fully engage in the Harvard experience with minimal constraints.”
