Professor Osuide has shaped the foundation of pharmacy education and drug administration in Nigeria.
Tinubu Celebrates Osuide- As Professor Gabriel Ediale Osuide a famous academic, pharmacist, and pioneer in the field of public health, celebrated his 90th birthday, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu extended his congratulations to him.
A statement that was released on Saturday by Bayo Onanuga, Tinubu’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, lauded Professor Osuide for the significant contributions that he has made to the fields of pharmaceutical education, drug regulation, and public health in Nigeria.
As a pioneering figure whose pioneering efforts helped create the nation’s healthcare sector, the President referred to him as a foundation builder.
The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) was established with the assistance of Professor Osuide, who also played a significant part in the development of the pharmacy education curriculum at Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) and the University of Benin.
Through his leadership, Nigeria’s medication regulatory framework has been strengthened, which has resulted in the safety and effectiveness of medicines that are available to the general people in Nigeria.
“Professor Osuide has shaped the foundation of pharmacy education and drug administration in Nigeria. His unwavering commitment to academic excellence, institutional reforms, and public service inspires all.
“His leadership in safeguarding the health of Nigerians through rigorous drug regulation remains a cornerstone of our national development.”
Under Professor Osuide’s leadership as Nigeria’s first Director-General of the National body for the Control of Drugs and Drug Abuse (NAFDAC), a regulatory body that has since become a model for drug safety enforcement in Africa was established.
Nigeria is now a frontrunner in the pharmaceutical industry as a result of his work in pharmaceutical education and research, which has also helped to establish worldwide cooperation.
During the celebration of Osuide’s legacy, Tinubu joined Osuide’s family, coworkers, and the larger community of educated and health professionals.
He conveyed his appreciation for the professor’s indefatigable dedication to Nigeria during his whole life and wished him continued good health and discernment.
