The Federal Government of Nigeria has reaffirmed its commitment to completing the 750km Sokoto-Gusau-Funtua-Zaria road project. The Minister of State for Works, Mr. Bello Goronyo, made this promise during an inspection tour of the ongoing project in Sokoto and Zamfara states

The Sokoto-Gusau-Funtua-Zaria road project is a critical infrastructure development initiative aimed at improving transportation and economic growth in the region. The project involves the reconstruction of the 750km road, which spans across several states in northern Nigeria.

Goronyo emphasized that the project’s timely completion is part of President Bola Tinubu’s directives to ensure that ongoing projects are executed as scheduled. The minister also reminded contractors and officials handling the project to comply with contractual agreements and deliver quality work.

Notably, the Federal Government has converted the reconstruction of the Sokoto-Gusau-Funtua-Zaria road to a concrete pavement to enhance its durability and impact. This move is expected to improve the road’s lifespan and reduce maintenance costs.

The completion of the Sokoto-Gusau-Funtua-Zaria road project is expected to have significant economic benefits for the region. The improved road network will facilitate the transportation of goods and services, boost trade, and enhance economic growth.

The project is also expected to have significant social benefits for the communities along the road corridor. The improved road network will enhance access to healthcare, education, and other social services, improving the overall quality of life for residents.

The Sokoto-Zaria road project is part of President Tinubu’s efforts to execute legacy projects that positively impact citizens’ lives. The government is also working on the 1,068-kilometer Sokoto-Badagry Super Highway project, which was a 47-year-old dream of former President Shehu Shagari.

The Federal Government’s commitment to completing the Sokoto-Zaria road project is a welcome development for the region. The project’s completion will have significant economic and social benefits for the communities along the road corridor, and it is a testament to President Tinubu’s commitment to executing legacy projects that positively impact citizens’ lives.
