Nigerian Athletes Compete at NCAA Indoor Championships

National record holder in the women's high jump, Temitope Adeshina, is billed to compete in the final on Saturday. After the end of the collegiate indoor season, a few of the athletes will head to China for the World Indoor Championships, which will be held from March 21 to 23 in Nanjing, China.

Nine top Nigerian athletes will be competing in the colours of their respective schools at the National Collegiate Athletic Association Division I Indoor Championships, which takes place at the Virginia Beach Sports Centre, Virginia, USA, this weekend.

The 2025 NCAA Division I Indoor Track and Field Championships will feature 17 different men’s and women’s indoor track and field events, with a total of 650 participants contesting from Friday, March 14, to Saturday, March 15.

Among the Nigerian athletes competing are African Games bronze medallist, Prestina Ochonogor, who will begin the hunt for medals in the women’s long jump final on Friday. Ella Onojuvwevwo will compete in the women’s 400m preliminary event, while Success Umukoro and Tima Godbless will hope to make it into the women’s 60m final.

Paris Olympics semi-finalists, Kanyinsola Ajayi, Adekalu Fakorede, and Israel Okon will compete in the men’s 60m. New African indoor record holder in the 400m, Ezekiel Nathaniel, will hope to reign supreme in the men’s 400m.
