The establishment of two markets in each of the state’s three senatorial districts was something that RAAMP had advocated
To improve the means of subsistence of young farmers who are economically disadvantaged, the administration of the Rural Access and Marketing Programme (RAAMP) has announced that preparations are currently being made to acquire 3,000 minibuses and 2,000 tricycles for them during the current cropping season.
Dr. Stephen Numbeve, the Coordinator of the Benue State RAAMP, shared this information during a meeting with the State Working Committee and members of the Nigeria Union of Journalists Benue State Council.
He stated that the purpose of this effort is to assist farmers in rapidly transporting their goods to the market.
The establishment of two markets in each of the state’s three senatorial districts was something that RAAMP had advocated, according to Dr. Numbeve.
“These markets would improve young farmers‘ income and access to markets, enabling them to sell their farm produce without stress.
“All these things are being done to ensure that our farmers easily get the market and value for their produce.
Dr. Numbeve was congratulated on his appointment as the RAAMP State Coordinator by the Chairman of the NUJ Benue State Council, Comrade Bemdoo Ugber.
He was also commended for justifying the confidence that was placed in him by carrying out tangible projects in rural road construction and agricultural markets across all three senatorial zones.
These projects were designed to alleviate the difficulties that farmers face in terms of transportation and marketing.
Comrade Ugber sent a request to the RAAMP State coordinator, asking for assistance in training NUJ members to remove quackery and enhance professionalism on the part of the organization.
He expressed gratitude to Governor Alia for recognizing Dr. Numbeve as deserving of the position and pledged to maintain the collaboration with the state government by making its projects more widely known.
