Kwara Trains 25 Medical Staff- To ensure the well-being of both the mother and the child during the process of childbirth, the government of Kwara State has coordinated a specialized training program for 25 medical staff on comprehensive emergency obstetric and newborn care (CEMONC).

Bringing the rate of maternal mortality in the state down was the primary objective of the training program. Dr. Amina El-Imam, the Commissioner for Health, stated that the training was intended to improve the safety of pregnant women and the baby as well as reduce maternal mortality, particularly during delivery. The course began in Ilorin and lasted for fourteen days.

The National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) has approved five facilities in Kwara State to be at the forefront of fighting maternal mortality and providing Caesarean sections for free in the state, according to El-Imam, who was speaking about the efforts that the government is making to expand the delivery of healthcare in the state.

She made the observation that the gesture is not unrelated to the efforts that the administration is making to guarantee that people in the entire state have access to free medical services.

The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) representative in the state, Dr. Hadiza Aliyu, expressed her gratitude to the state administration for effectively delivering high-quality medical services to the doorsteps of the state’s citizens.
