President Bola Tinubu is currently having a closed door meeting with the Lagos State Assembly members including Speaker Mudasiru Obasa and Deputy Meranda in Aso Rock.
A fresh crisis appears brewing in the assembly specifically between Speaker Obasa and Erstwhile Speaker Meranda who resigned to become the deputy Speaker again after peace truce and intervention from stakeholders and Lagos GAC.
Meranda was accused of authorising the purchase of vehicles for lawmakers during Obasa’ temporary exit as speaker.
It is reported that frosty relation exists between Obasa and Meranda
The lawmakers arrived at the Aso Rock venue of the meeting by 2 pm today in a Coaster Bus.
Upon arrival, they were escorted to the council chambers by security officials and the President’s aides.
Interestingly, Mojisola Meranda, who recently resigned as Speaker, was among the lawmakers who arrived in the bus.
However, Mudasiru Obasa arrived about 30 minutes later and joined the others at the Council Chambers .
The details of the meeting are still under wraps, but there is high possibility it’s connected to the ongoing leadership crisis in the Lagos House of Assembly.
infact it is uncertain if the meeting is a result of a summon, invitation for truce, venue to reprimand or session to tender grievances and apologies.
It is speculated that new chains of orders and directives could be issued to the perceived warring assembly by Mr President.
President Tinubu who hails from Lagos and his believed to be the father and master of Lagos Political terrain is believed to be keenly interested in happenings in the Lagos Political arena.
Inability to manage the Lagos Assembly crisis would ultimately have effect on President Tinubu’s influence and chances of re-election.
Recall Tinubu lost Lagos to Peter Obi in the last presidential Election.
