Seyi Makinde, the governor of Oyo State, has ordered the Nigerian military to expel criminal elements from the state.

Makinde stated this during Friday’s Juma’at Service at Oja’ba Central Mosque in commemoration of the Armed Forces Remembrance Day, 2025

Recall that Makinde had recently said there was information that certain bandits were currently living in communities close to Fashola during his remarks on Monday at the 2025 Annual Interfaith Thanksgiving Service, which was held at the Secretariat, Agodi, Ibadan.

Armed Forces Remembrance Day is a sombre day in Nigerian military history, according to the governor, who was represented by his deputy, Barr Adebayo Lawal.

He pointed out that the Nigerian Armed Forces’ contributions and efforts could not be disregarded, particularly when it comes to genuine development, peace and tranquilly.

According to the governor, Oyo State’s government recognised the Nigerian Armed Forces’ contribution to maintaining national unity.

“The Governor Seyi Makinde-led administration will stop at nothing to reduce the rate of crimes and criminality to the barest in the state.

“I am urging the military to double their efforts towards ensuring that bandits are wiped away from Oyo State.

“Today is a special day in the calendar of the Nigeria Armed Forces; without peace and tranquility, there is nothing we can do. We are here today to share the remembrance of our fallen heroes; our fallen heroes paid the supreme prize which is the highest anyone can offer. We have to celebrate them, if not for their efforts, perhaps Nigeria would have been divided,” he said.
