Enyimba coach Stanley Eguma has expressed optimism that the nine-time Nigerian champions are gradually regaining their confidence in the Nigeria Premier Football League. The team’s recent performances have shown significant improvement, with three wins, one away draw, and just one defeat in their last five games.

Enyimba’s resurgence has propelled them to eighth place on the table with 41 points, just three points shy of the CAF Confederation Cup spot in the league. Prior to their recent upturn in form, the Aba giants had endured a dismal run, winning only two out of 10 matches.

Eguma attributed the team’s improved performance to the players’ growing self-belief. “It brightens our hope and confidence in returning to the team. We had to take some time to get to this stage. When we came in, it was very rough, the players’ psychology was low, morale was down, and now I think the players are beginning to believe in themselves,” Eguma said.

The coach acknowledged that while the team still has room for improvement, they are gradually making progress. “Some of them are new in the system, we have not really arrived, but gradually, we are improving. We need to work more, and our conversation rate has to increase. I think in subsequent games, we should be able to increase our goal-scoring,” Eguma added.

Enyimba’s next game is against Ikorodu City in Lagos, who currently occupy the third position in the league. Securing a continental ticket will be considered an achievement for the Aba giants this season.
