The Minister of Youth Development, Ayodele Olawande, has stated that President Bola Tinubu’s son, Seyi Tinubu, is qualified and not too young to be the next Governor of Lagos State.

It should be noted that, in November 2024, the Coalition of Nigerian Youth Leaders (CONYL) backed Seyi to succeed Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu as the state’s next governor.

The minister asserted this in an interview with Seun Okinbaloye, describing Seyi as his leader and mentor and claiming that the president’s son is capable of leading Lagos State.

The minister claimed that Seyi is not too young to be governor, pointing out that he is a well-educated young man who has helped and uplifted many young Nigerians even when his father was not president.

Olawande stated, “He is not too young to become governor; that is the truth. Everyone has a natural desire to become whatever they want to be. He is a well-trained young man who has raised a large number of young people, even though his father is not president.

“He paves a way for you to grow. As the President’s son, he is not away in the United States or somewhere else enjoying himself, but he is there doing the work himself and wants to see how things can go well for the young people of this country.”

However, the minister stated that the President’s son has nothing to do with the support of groups advocating for him to become Lagos governor.

“Seyi is not the one engineering the campaign to become the next governor of Lagos State,” he told journalists.
