The Kwara State Police Command has debunked reports circulating on social media that bandits displaced from Zamfara State have relocated to Kwara.
The Police Public Relations Officer, Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi, stated that there is no intelligence to suggest any migration of bandits from Zamfara to any part of Kwara State.
A social media report had alleged that fleeing bandits from Zamfara had moved to Banni in the Kaiama Local Government Area of Kwara. However, the police command promptly responded to the claim, stating that no operational report corroborated the presence of bandits in the area.
The Kwara Commissioner of Police, Victor Olaiya, reassured residents that the state remained safe and that the police were fully prepared to tackle any security concerns. He urged the public to disregard unverified reports and refrain from spreading misinformation.
Olaiya emphasized that the police command had heightened surveillance across the state to prevent any security threats, in collaboration with other security agencies. He also encouraged residents to report any suspicious activities or individuals to the police.
The bandits in Zamfara State have been under intense pressure from the military and other security agencies. The state government has also implemented various measures to address the security challenges, including the establishment of a special task force to combat banditry.
Despite these efforts, the bandits have continued to wreak havoc in the state, leading to the displacement of thousands of people. The situation has also raised concerns about the potential spread of banditry to other states, including Kwara.
The Kwara State Government has also taken steps to address the potential security threats from the bandits. The government has established a special security task force to monitor the state’s borders and prevent any influx of bandits.
The government has also encouraged residents to be vigilant and report any suspicious activities or individuals to the authorities. The state’s Commissioner for Information, Mrs. Harriet Afolabi-Oshatimehin, has also assured residents that the government is committed to ensuring their safety and security.
The Kwara State Police Command’s assurance that the bandits are not relocating to Kwara is a welcome relief for residents. However, it is essential for residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities or individuals to the authorities.
The state government’s efforts to address the potential security threats from the bandits are also commendable. The establishment of a special security task force and the encouragement of residents to be vigilant are steps in the right direction.
As the security situation in Zamfara State continues to unfold, it is crucial for the Kwara State Government and the police command to remain proactive in addressing any potential security threats.
