In a significant development, Governor Seyi Makinde has approved N554 million as bursary allowances for undergraduate students from Oyo State for the 2024/2025 academic session. This move is expected to provide financial relief to eligible students, enabling them to focus on their studies.
Screening Process and Eligibility
The screening process for the bursary award will be conducted in two phases. Undergraduate students will undergo screening from Monday, March 10, to Friday, March 14, 2025, while law students will be screened from Monday, March 17, to Thursday, March 20, 2025.
To be eligible, students must be indigenes of Oyo State, enrolled in a Nigerian public university or tertiary institution, and in their final year of study. However, students from private institutions, part-time students, and those studying overseas are not eligible to apply.
Required Documents and Verification
Shortlisted applicants resident in Ibadan are required to visit the Oyo State Ministry of Education, Science and Technology Secretariat, Ibadan, with the following documents for verification:
- Completed Bursary Application Form
- Local Government Identification Certificate
- Admission Letter
- School ID Card
- Bank Details, including SWIFT/SORT code
Students residing outside Ibadan are advised to liaise with their institution’s Student Affairs Unit or forward their documents to the Board Secretary, Chairman, or Senior Special Assistant on Student Affairs for processing.
Compliance and Disbursement
All shortlisted applicants are urged to comply with the guidelines and deadlines to ensure a smooth screening and disbursement process. The Oyo State Scholarship Board will announce the successful candidates, and the status can be checked on the application portal.
