In Lagos State, factions of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) made the decision over the weekend to put their differences aside and work together for the benefit of the party.
Alhaji Muritala Ashorobi, who served as the first Chairman of the party in Lagos, made his home the location of the reconciliation meeting that was held.
The Reconciliation Committee in Lagos is likewise led by Ashorobi, who serves as its Chairman. Former Deputy National Chairman of the party, Chief Olabode George; former Minister of Cooperation and Integration, Dr. Abimbola Ogunkelu; former member of the Board of Trade, Mrs. Aduke Maina; the Chairman of the state, Mr. Philip Aivoji; Captain Tunji Shelle (ret.), Alhaji Ramoni Owokoniran, Dr. Niran Adeniji, members of the Reconciliation Committee, and members of the State Executive Committee were among those who were present.
After the meeting, the leaders issued a communiqué in which they made a commitment to ousting the All Progressives Congress (APC) from office in the year 2027.
According to the communique, it was decided that the party will continue along its current path. The members must come together. To take power away from the All Progressives Congress (APC) in 2027, party members in each of the state’s twenty local government districts need to organise the people of Lagos.
Also Betrayals who were working with the APC underground were warned to discontinue their activities immediately or to leave. They issued a warning that acts that are counter to the party will no longer be permitted. The APC has been a major letdown for Nigerians, and they need to be removed from power in 2027.
It reads, “The Meeting also resolved that status quo in the party remains. All members must unite. Party members across the 20 local government areas in the state must mobilise Lagosians to wrest power from the APC in 2027.
“The meeting also warned some members working for APC underground to stop or leave PDP immediately.
“It also warned that anti-party activities will no longer be tolerated. APC has really disappointed Nigerians and must be voted out in 2027.”
