Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji, has been making waves with his administration’s achievements, particularly in the areas of agriculture, infrastructure, and security. In a recent interview, Oyebanji shared his vision and strategies for the state’s development.

On agriculture, Oyebanji emphasized the importance of food production and security. “Any person or any country that cannot feed itself is not an independent country,” he said. To achieve this, his administration has invested heavily in land clearing, land preparation, and land development. They have also established a program to support youths and cooperatives in farming, providing them with land, seedlings, extension services, and a market for their produce.

The governor also highlighted the state’s progress in infrastructure development, including the construction of roads, a flyover, and an airport. “Governance is about doing the right thing, it’s about providing solutions to problems,” he explained. Oyebanji noted that these projects were made possible by the state’s prudent management of resources and the support of the Federal Government.

On security, Oyebanji praised the effectiveness of the Amotekun corps, a regional security outfit established by the South-West states. “Amotekun is one of the best things that have ever happened to us in the South-West,” he said. However, he acknowledged the challenges faced by the corps, including the need for them to be armed.

Oyebanji also addressed the issue of local government administration in the state, following a Supreme Court judgment. He assured that his administration is law-abiding and has been assisting local governments with their allocations.

When asked about his plans for a second term, Oyebanji remained coy, saying that he is focused on his current tenure and will follow the party’s process when the time comes. “I appreciate all those endorsements, but in the party, there’s a process,” he said.

Overall, Oyebanji’s administration appears to be making significant strides in Ekiti State, with a focus on sustainable development, security, and good governance.
