The Governor of Ogun State, Dapo Abiodun; former state governor, Gbenga Daniel; and Senator Solomon Adeola representing Ogun West have sent their condolences to Dimeji Bankole, a former Speaker of the House of Representatives, on the death of his mother, Alhaja Monsurat Bankole. Bankole died on Friday after a brief illness at the age of 79 and was buried in accordance with Islamic traditions.
Abiodun, in a statement signed by his Special Adviser on Media and Strategy, Kayode Akinmade, hailed the late matriarch of the Bankole family as a notable Amazon and a devout Muslim.
The governor characterized the deceased as a leader who greatly aided the development of her town while also serving as a pillar of the Bankole family.Abiodun stated, “It is indeed devastating to lose yet another outstanding woman of courage and integrity in Ogun State, following the tragic passing of Mrs. Adebisi Edionseri (Cash Madam). “However, we take comfort in the legacy of piety and humanitarian service that she has left behind.” “She was not only a proud mother, but also a constant source of support for her husband, Chief Alani Bankole.
May God Almighty give her soul eternal rest in Al Jannah Firdaus.
Daniel’s media office issued a statement on Saturday describing Bankole’s mother as a kind and hardworking matriarch who devoted her life to serving her family and community. “Alhaja Atinuke Bankole was a woman of virtue, strength, and compassion, leaving behind a legacy of love, dedication, and service.
Her demise is a big loss not only to the Bankole family, but also to the greater Ogun State community, where she had a significant impact,” Daniel remarked.
He also recognized her services to society as a role model and source of inspiration for many. He asked the former speaker and the entire family to take comfort in the good memories they had with her and the timeless ideals she imparted. “On behalf of my family, I want to express my heartfelt condolences to Rt. Hon. Dimeji Bankole and the entire Bankole family.”
“May Almighty Allah grant Alhaja Atinuke Bankole eternal rest in Al-Jannah Firdaus and give you the strength to bear this irreparable loss,” he concluded.
Similarly, the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Appropriations, Adeola, fondly known as Yayi, said in his condolence message that it was sad and regrettable that the family lost its matriarch at a time when she was still contributing to national development as a mother, grandmother, and role model for young women in society.
He stated that her death is a significant loss not only to her family, but also to the Muslim women’s community in Ogun State and, more broadly, Nigeria.
“Alhaja Bankole was a good Muslim mother who nurtured wonderful children who have contributed to national growth. Her death is a huge loss for her family and Nigeria,” the senator remarked.
Adeola prayed for her soul’s quiet repose and for the family’s strength to suffer the irreparable loss of a loving grandmother.
