A customary court in Rivers State has ruled that Mrs. Kate Ngbor can no longer use her ex-husband’s name, 11 years after their divorce. Chief Sam Ngbor, the claimant, had filed a suit (OCC/9/2021) seeking a court order to stop his ex-wife from bearing his name.

The court granted the order after hearing submissions from both the claimant’s counsel, E. O Erhirhi Esq, and the defendant’s counsel, R.U Egwenre Esq. The judgment stated that Mrs. Ngbor has no right to continue using the name “Ngbor” or “Sam-Ngbor” without the claimant’s express permission.
