The boy was bailed from the NSCDC office at Ikare Command for N3,000, yet the principal is still demanding another N10,000 from his mother, claiming it is for the government

An inquiry has been sent to one of the officials of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) regarding the alleged assault that occurred at Victory College, Ikare-Akoko, which is located in the Akoko North East Local Government Area of Ondo State.

The statement that was released on Wednesday, March 5, 2025, by Femi-Daniels Aidamenbor, the spokesperson for the Command, verified the development.

Femi stated, “The officer has been queried. He was summoned from Ikare to Akure. He has actlally been queried for the way he handled the matter.

“Even though he was acting within the mandate of the call, the way he handled the matter was actually not encouraging.

“The officer erred. Even if you’re applying capital punishment, it shouldn’t have been on the body of the young man. That was where he actually erred, and the State Commandant frowned at that.”

This follows after an activist named Ogbeni OB Sugar, who is based in Ondo State, posted on Facebook an allegation that the student had been flogged by an official from the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) on the instruction of the principal of the institution.

“My attention was drawn to this report some minutes ago, and according to the report, which read thus: ‘This is how a 13-year-old boy was flogged yesterday, March 3, 2025, by the NSCDC through a principal in a public school at Victory College, Ikare, Akoko, Ondo State.’

“This happened just because the boy accidentally injured his classmate while they were playing with a plastic water bottle. The boy was bailed from the NSCDC office at Ikare Command for N3,000, yet the principal is still demanding another N10,000 from his mother, claiming it is for the government.”
